In the washing industry, anhydrous citric acid, with its unique physical and chemical properties, has become an important additive for enhancing cleaning efficiency and product stability. Its applications cover various types of washing products, from solid to liquid
I. Core Product Characteristics
Low-Moisture Stability
Anhydrous citric acid contains no crystal water, with a water content usually below 0.5%. During production and storage, it is not prone to caking or deliquescence due to moisture absorption.
Strong Chelating Ability
The hydroxyl and carboxyl groups in its molecular structure can strongly chelate hard ions such as calcium and magnesium in water, forming soluble chelates and reducing water hardness.
Precise Acidic Regulation
In neutral or weakly alkaline washing systems, proper addition can neutralize excess alkali, avoiding damage to clothes (especially protein fibers such as wool and silk) due to excessive alkalinity, and at the same time enhancing the decontamination ability.
Excellent Thermal Stability
It is not easy to decompose at relatively high temperatures (such as 60-80°C in industrial washing environments), and can stably exert chelating and acidic regulating effects, making it suitable for high-temperature washing scenarios (such as hotel linen and industrial workwear cleaning).

II. Specific Application Scenarios
Solid Detergents
As an anti-caking agent and chelating agent, anhydrous citric acid can prevent washing powder from caking due to moisture absorption, ensuring its easy solubility and rinsability; at the same time, it chelates metal ions in hard water, improving the emulsifying ability of surfactants on oil stains and sweat stains, and reducing white residues on clothes after washing.
In concentrated washing blocks, its low-moisture characteristic can enhance product hardness, extend the shelf life, and balance the formula pH through acidic regulation, avoiding the washing blocks from disintegrating too quickly in water.
Liquid Detergents
Although it is in solid form, it is easily soluble in water and can quickly disperse in liquid formulations. It improves decontamination ability by chelating metal ions, especially for water scale (carbonate precipitates) and metal rust stains on tableware and clothes, which can assist surfactants in breaking down dirt.
It adjusts the pH of liquid detergents to weakly acidic to neutral (pH 6-7), reducing irritation to the skin, and is suitable for hand-washing laundry liquid or baby clothes cleaners.
